A sound roof is the one part of a house nobody thinks about until it leaks. Owen installs profiled metal roofing, replaces tired roofs, keeps existing ones in good order and fits corrugated iron cladding.

New roofs and re-roofs
Long-run and corrugated profiled metal roofing on new work, extensions, sheds and carports, and full re-roofs where the existing roof has reached the end of its life. Owen checks the framing and underlay before anything goes on, so the new roof sits on something sound. The roofing and framing photographed on this page are from new homes Owen worked on as a contractor for Antonio Builders Limited.
Roof maintenance
Northland weather is hard on roofs. Loose fixings, failed flashings, rust at the laps, blocked gutters and lifted ridging are the usual causes of a leak, and all of them are cheaper to fix before winter than after. Owen can inspect the roof, repair what needs it and tell you plainly how much life is left in it.
Corrugated iron cladding
Corrugated iron is a practical, long-lasting cladding for sheds, garages, outbuildings and the right kind of home. Owen installs it over new framing or as a replacement for tired weatherboards, with the flashings and underlay done properly so it stays dry behind.

Roofing and cladding: common questions
Do I need consent to re-roof my house?
Replacing roofing with comparable material, like for like, is generally exempt from building consent under Schedule 1 of the Building Act. Changing the roof structure, pitch or material class can need consent. Owen confirms which applies before quoting.
What is the difference between long-run and corrugated iron?
Both are profiled metal roofing. Corrugated iron has the traditional wavy profile; long-run is the general name for continuous-length sheets, which can be corrugated or a trapezoidal profile. Owen will suggest the profile that suits the roof and the look of the house.
What does roof maintenance involve?
Checking fixings, flashings, laps, ridging, gutters and downpipes, treating rust spots, and repairing or replacing what has failed. The aim is to catch small faults before they become leaks.
Can you reclad my shed in corrugated iron?
Yes. Corrugated iron cladding over sound framing is a common job on sheds, garages and outbuildings, with the underlay and flashings done so the structure stays dry.
